There has been much excitement over how artificial intelligence can improve efficiency and productivity. Every conference, regardless of the host and theme, includes a session or sessions on AI, and articles everywhere trumpet its promise.

Lanny Jay Beach, 82, former executive vice president and director of Union Bank, Kokomo, passed away on Oct. 21, 2023. He started working at the bank in 1967, first as auditor, then controller, before being named executive vice president and director.
The Indiana Bankers Association operates under the guidance of the Association’s Board of Directors. Acting as the governing body of the IBA, the Board consists of 17 members: three elected officers, one past chairman, the association president/CEO, two representatives of national associations, the Future Leadership Division president, a non-Indiana headquartered bank director and eight regional and at-large directors.

Centier Bank, Merrillville, donated $37,500 to community groups in the fall of 2023. The bank contributed $25,000 to Housing Opportunities, Inc., a community-sustained nonprofit that resolves and prevents homelessness for adults, children and seniors in Porter and LaPorte counties. van Hoffmeyer has been promoted to vice president – communications for the Indiana Bankers Association, effective Jan. 1. He joined the Association in August 2022 as assistant vice president – communications. Hoffmeyer is responsible for all the IBA’s print and digital communications, as well as media relations.
