Lanny Jay Beach, 82, former executive vice president and director of Union Bank, Kokomo, passed away on Oct. 21, 2023. He started working at the bank in 1967, first as auditor, then controller, before being named executive vice president and director. He saw the bank through its transition to Ameritrust National Bank and then Society National Bank. The bank later merged with KeyBank, NA, Cleveland. Beach earned his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University, where he participated in ROTC for four years and was named IU Distinguished Military Student in 1962. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army, where he served honorably for three years. After leaving the Army, he returned to IU for law school. Beach served his community in many ways, including as a president of the Indiana Bankers Association Region III, treasurer of the United Way, president of the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation Board of Directors and a charter member of Partners in Education. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn, two daughters, four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
