The IBA gave members of its Future Leadership Division an up-close look this year at the chaos that can come about in the final days of a legislative session. The annual FLD Day at the Statehouse was held on Tuesday, March 5, just days before the General Assembly adjourned sine die on March 8. More than 60 members from throughout the state traveled to our state’s capital to network, learn about grassroots advocacy and see the historic Indiana Statehouse.

Lucas White: Indiana Banker Takes the Helm of ICBA

For only the second time in IBA history, an Indiana banker is now chair of a national trade association. Lucas White officially took office as chair of ICBA at the end of their national conference in March. The fourth-generation banker is president of The Fountain Trust Company, Covington, and helped guide the IBA through the COVID pandemic when he served as our chair in 2020.

Chairman’s Report

Bankers like consistency from our regulators – knowing what we can expect so we can keep our efforts focused on planning for the future and how we can best leverage our resources to build stronger communities where we work and live. As regulatory agencies continue to propose new rules and changes to old ones, it can be easy to grow frustrated and blame it on Washington politics. That is why we must remain engaged. When regulatory uncertainty increases, it is our responsibility to double down on advocating for the best environment to serve our customers.
