Andrew Briggs has been appointed chairman of the board for Farmers & Merchants Bank, Archbold, Ohio, and its holding company, Farmers & Merchants Bancorp Inc. He succeeds Jack Johnson, who retired in May after reaching the maximum age set forth in the bank’s bylaws. Briggs has been a member of the board since 2019. He has more than 40 years of banking experience and served as chairman of the IBA in 2019, when he was also honored with the Sagamore of the Wabash. In 2022, he received the IBA’s Leader in Banking Excellence Award. Briggs serves as treasurer of the Indiana State Museum, Adams County Economic Development Corporation and the Adams Public Library System; corporate secretary of Limberlost State Historic Site; past president of the Geneva Town Council; and is on the board of directors for READI Commission for Northeast Indiana Region. Briggs graduated from Ball State University.
Jean Wojtowicz was appointed chair of First Merchants Bank, Muncie, and its holding company, First Merchants Corp., effective May 7. She has been a member of the boards for 20 years and succeeds Charles Schalliol, who retired after serving as chair for 17 years. Wojtowicz will also chair the board’s compensation and human resources committee and serve as a member of the audit, nominating and governance committees.
