Among the ranks of IBA-member banks, 89 have been in operation for 100 years or longer. This year, Logansport Savings Bank became the 90th centennial bank. The Association congratulates Logansport Savings Bank and all our centennial bank members that have weathered economic changes and challenges to bring strength to Indiana.
Logansport Savings Bank
The bank received its charter as the Logansport Building and Loan Association on March 31, 1925. Over the past century, it has grown and evolved into a full-service community bank offering retail and commercial banking across north-central Indiana. The bank’s campus is in the middle of a renovation and expansion with plans to open a second branch in Peru.
A centennial anniversary is rare in this country, with fewer than 1,000 companies estimated to have ever reached that milestone. That equates to less than one-half of 1% of all U.S. businesses.
“Being able to celebrate our 100th anniversary is exciting, yet humbling,” said Chad Higgins, Logansport Savings Bank president & CEO. “We believe that our purpose as a community bank is not just to offer convenient and innovative banking products – it’s also to fund the dreams of small business owners, to provide stable careers for our employees and to give back with financial support to organizations making the communities we serve great places to live and work.”
As part of its centennial celebration, the bank gave away five one-time Centennial Grants worth $1,925 each to local organizations chosen by its employees:
- Chad Lambert Youth Athletic Fund: Supporting youth athletics and sponsorships for local programs, this fund was founded in memory of Chad Lambert, with deep ties to the bank through longtime employee Joni Lambert.
- Cass County Family YMCA: Recognized for its impact on individuals and families, the YMCA continues to grow and serve the community, touching the lives of many bank employees and customers.
- Area Five Agency: Chosen for its essential services to seniors, families and individuals in need throughout Cass County.
- Cass County Humane Society: Honored for compassionate animal care, shelter and education programs.
- Special Olympics Cass County: Celebrated for empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities through sports and inclusion.
